Track Crew at Hayford Junction. January 1987.
A heavy snow had fallen in the morning on this january day in 1987. A Belt Railway of Chicago Track Maintenance Dept crew is seen here shoveling out a track switch clogged with snow. Railroads operate 24 hours a day -7 days a week in all kinds of weather and conditions. Not even the likes of a Chicago Snowstorm can stop the Norfolk Southern Railroad freight train seen here in the background.
