Eastbound Canadian Pacific unit grain train passing the Mars flagstop depot. Chicago Illinois USA. December 2006.

I took this photo on a sunny and somewhat mild December afternoon in 2006. An eastbound Canadian Pacific unit grain train, with a locomotive borrowed from the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad, is seen passing the Metra Mars commuter flagstop depot on Chicago's northside. The Mars depot is so named, because it is located adjacent to the M & M Mars candy Factory on North Oak Park Avenue in Chicago.

  1. Well -another two fallen flags, the CP has both the DM&E and IC&E.

  2. Thank You Terry.
I had the idea that this might
    be an eventuality. I noticed
    Iowa, Chicago & Eastern freight
trains traveling over the Canadian Pacific for some time now. I felt
the same way during the 1980's and 90's with all those Union Pacific diesel run thrus on Chicago & NorthWestern freight trains.

    Thank You.
