I took this photo of a pending construction renovation notice at the CTA North Southport Avenue brown line station, in August of 2006. During 2006 and 2007, the Chicago Transit Authority was in the process of completely rebuilding the rapid transit stations on the former Ravenswood Elevated line, wich today is known as the CTA brown Line. The station at 3411 North Southport Avenue in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, would soon be getting reconstruction improvements to the station soon.
The old rapid transit stations on the former Ravenswood Line, were outdated and not very Handicapped Accessible. The old platforms could only hold 6 car trains instead of the standard rush hour 8 car consists. The brown line was being brought up to par during this period.
