A modern era Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad freight train passes by in the background.

 

I took this photograph recently, at the Oak Park Society of Model

Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois.

 

I model mostly 1960's and 70's era American railroading. In a scene

straight out of the late 1960's and early 1970's era, my G,M & O  -

freight train, passes by in the background on the club layout, and

recreating a scene of the G,M & O in the immediate years prior to

the merger with Illinois Central in 1972, that thus created the

Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
