A lazy but pleasant Sunday afternoon in october of 1989 is being spent photographing a fast northbound Conrail Auto Rack train at Chicago Ridge Tower and Junction, near the town of Oaklawn Illinois. This Junction were the Norfolk Southern (ex Wabash) Line , Crosses the Indianna Harbor Belt Railroad, was a populairRailfan Hangout for many years. The Control
tower seen here was closed in 1993 and demolished a few years later, after a few suspicious arson fires were set.
Satalite Communications and GPS systems Phased out these manual Traffic control
towers in recent years.
