Former Milwaukee Road steel caboose on display in Franklin Park Illinois USA. May 2006.
While on a business call in near northwest suburban Franklin Park Illinois USA, I photographed this old 1920's vintage Milwaukee Road steel caboose , on display near the Metra station. This caboose and Junction Tower B-12, make an attractive and historical Museum display along Franklin Avenue. The village of Franklin Park Illinois USA, is a very busy railroad town. The former Milwaukee Road mainline and yard, (now Canadian Pacific), and the Indianna Harbor Belt railroad and junction, make for constant freight train, and Metra action 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In May of each year, the village has a springtime carnival celebration called "Franklin Park Railroad Days". One of the famous past entertainers appearing here in 2006 at the fest, was Mickey Dolenz formerly of the 1960's music group -"The Monkee's".
