There is nothing like a pleasant Springtime afternoon to go on location for some outdoor railfanning activity. I took this photo in May of 1987 at a southside Chicago location known as Hayford Junction. Located at West 75th Street and South St. Louis Avenue in Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood, this busy crosstrack junction is busy 24-7 with plenty of Belt Railway of Chicago transfer trains to and from nearby Clearing Yard, and a handful of GTW north and south freight trains back in 1987.
Two Union Pacific EMD GP-15 light roadswitchers, are seen backing up a cut of tank cars into nearby Clearing Yard.
