If You stick around a lineside railfan photo location long enough, You will never know what You may have the pleasure of photographing on the scene. I took this photo one Winter morning in January of 2008, at the Metra, Elmwood Park commuter rail station in Chicago's near northwest suburbs.
With a fresh accumulation of snow on the ground, This Metra M.O.W or Maintenance Of Way crew as they are known as, moves slowly through the station enroute to a lineside work scene. Notice the lowered Hi Rail wheels with Flanges. This allows vechicles to travel over rail lines to otherwise inaccessible locations.
