Before there was the Chicago Transit Authority in the windy city, there was the predecessor agency Chicago Surface Lines.
I took this unique photo during a June 2001 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum located in the town of Union Illinois.
Seen here at the east end of the museum's demonstration trolley loop, are a 1944 White transit bus and a 1922 electric streetcar from the Chicago Surface Lines. CSL was mainly an electric streetcar operator, but also served Chicagoans with a modest fleet of gasoline powered motor buses as well.
