I took this now historic photograph back in July of 2008.
For 81 years, the Kiddieland Amusement Park located at the northwest corner of North and First Avenues in Melrose Park Illinois, was a local fun place for families to go and have fun with their children.
When I took this photograph, Kiddieland was the last of the small family owned and operated amusement parks that was actually still in operation in the greater Chicagoland area. Many of the others had closed before the end of the 1970's decade.
It is getting near closing time, as the park's miniature train ride operator waits for pasengers at the boarding station to arrive, for another ride around the park's perimeter.
Kiddieland closed for good after a family dispute on Sunday, September 27th, 2009.
Today, this is the site of a Costco wholesale warehouse club store.
