Well folks....that heavy snow and ice time of the year has finally arrived here in the greater Chicagoland area. With gusty winds, outside temperatures in the single digits and teens, snow and bitterly cold windchill factors and weather advisories broadcast on local Chicago area news networks daily this past week...it looks like it is now definately the official "Off Season" for roller bladers like myself until further notice.
It was approximately 8 degrees above zero Farenheight with a bitterly cold stinging windchill factor blowing in out of the west, when I stopped the other day on my lunch break to snap this photo at Wesr Park in Des Plaines Illinois. Brrrrr! It was an Arctic Desert
Although roller blading is out of the question for now, the Des Plaines Park District has begun preparations for their seasonal wintertime makeshift outdoor ice skating rink.
This grassy field was recently plowed / bulldozed, and soon local outdoor ice skaters will be flocking here when the winter conditions are just right.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
