Another popular Norridge fun family establishment of the historic past has bit the dust.
Closed in late December of 2007, the former Maurice Lennel cookie factory and their adjacent factory outlet store known as "The Cookie Jar" at North Harlem and West Montrose Avenues in near northwest suburban Norridge Illinois, have finally met the wrecking backhoe cranes.
I am very sad to see this place go, as I used to come here with my family during the 1970's when we would go skating next door at the Axel Roller Rink.We always went here to taste a few samples, and purchase a few boxes of assorted cookies to take home. It was a fun family place filled with many tasty smells in the air, friendly workers, and happy memories of family outings here.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
