For many years especially during the 1950's and 60's, There
were once many small family owned seasonal amusement
parks with carnival rides, game booths and concession stands
in the greater Chicagoland area. Most of them had closed for
good before the end of the 1970's decade.
The Kiddieland Amusement Park in Melrose Park Illinois, was the
very last one of it's kind operating in the greater Chicagoland area,
and closed for good on Sunday, September 27th, 2009, after a long
and legal dispute between the various members of the family who
owned the amusement park, and the land it operated on.
Here in this photograph, we see the Tilt A Whirl ride, looking
west through the chain link fence, from the east parking lot.
