Southern Pacific # 1518 shown here, was built by the Electro Motive Corporation of General Motors (EMD) as a traveling demonstrator locomotive, promoting their "New" model SD 7 roadswitcher line of engines. Now retired, Southern Pacific # 1518 has made it in to preservation, and is occasionally operated on museum passenger trains and photo freights at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. www.irm.org
