The East 95th Street drawbridge opened to let a ship pass through. Chicago Illinois. Sunday, November 25th, 2012., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph back in late November of 2012.
The East 95th Street drawbridge over the Calumet River, has just been raised to let a huge Canadian owned Great Lakes freighter ship pass through the Calumet River channel.
This drawbridge is located on the far southeast side of Chicago, near the border of neighboring Hammond Indiana.
This drawbridge was used for a stunt scene during the filming of the movie "The Blues Brothers" way back in 1980, which had starred the former NBC Saturday Night Live stars John Belushi and Dan Akroyd.
The little white building to the right of the photograph with the red roof, is the locally popular Calumet Fisheries. This is a nice take out sea food stand with good quality fish to purchase.
Greetings from the far southeast side of Chicago!
Thanks.
Eddie k.
