Tug boat pulling a huge Canadian great lakes freighter ship. Chicago Illinois USA. Sunday, March 4th, 2012., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph back in early March of 2012.
It may have been the winter season here in Chicago, but shipping traffic on the Calumet River is year round. The huge Great Lakes and ocean traveling freighter ships, require multiple tug boats to safely navigate them through the Calumet River Channel on the far southeast side of Chicago near neighborhong Hammond Indiana.

Dear Mr. Kwiatkowski,
I apologize for posting to your comments. (I sent a message on flickr but wasn't sure if you received it and couldn't figure out how to send a private message here...)
My name is Chris Young and I'm writing from a production company here in Tokyo, Japan called VECKS. We produce documentaries and educational programs for NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Here's a link to our website:

We recently shot a documentary in Chicago about footwork dance and there's a part where we talk about gangs in the late 80s and 90s. We have been looking for photos to show Chicago during that period and came across your photo, "Demolition of the Marquette Theatre Building at West 23rd St. and South Kedzie Ave." on flickr. We would love to use it briefly during that part of the documentary to show Chicago at that time...
We can give a photo credit at the bottom of the picture. Please let us know if it would be OK to use it.
Thanks!
Best,
Chris Young
