An extreme close up photo of the Illinois Central Railroad's pre 1967 "Green Diamond" corporate logo., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph last week Wednsday evening, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.
This extreme close up photo, shows how the former Illinois Central Railroad's freight diesel locomotives were painted and decorated prior to the introduction of the modernized orange and white color scheme with the "New" split rail logo in 1967.
Some of the black and white I.C engines with the green diamond logo, actually lasted in to the 1980's until retired or repainted.
