Canadian National yard switching activity with fallen flag predecessor railroad locomotives. Crawford Yard. Chicago Illinois. April 2007., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
The former Illinois Central Railroad's Crawford Yard, was still a busy place to a smaller extent back in 2007. Tank cars were often stored and sorted here, as were box cars and covered hopper cars.
In this photograph, former locomotives from the Grand Trunk Western and Illinois Central, are viewed making up a train at this now Canadian National owned facility. This photographed was taken at approximately West 33rd Street and South Kostner Avenue on the near southwest side of Chicago, just east of the city limits border adjacent to Cicero Illinois.
The Canadian National closed Crawford Yard in 2011, and has since removed the yard tracks.
