This is a scene all too familiar to railroad crews.
This view was taken from the platform of a-
retired Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe 1981
vintage wide vision caboose.
This caboose is part of a nature display in
suburban Hodgkins Illinois, knows as th
Santa Fe Prairie.

Are there other train cars on display? Can you climb on them?
If so, this looks like an interesting place to bring children.
Where is it exactly?
Hi Tom!
The Santa Fe Prairie, is located in Hodgkins Illinois, on the north bank of the Des Plaines river.
To get there from Tinley Park...take U.S Route # 12 / 45 La Grange Road north to Joliet Road in Hodgkins /Countryside Illinois.
Make a left turn and go east approximately one mile to East Avenue. Make a right turn and go south on East Avenue to the River Road bypass road south of west 67th Street, in the factory district. On this road You will go over the BNSF Railway tracks on an overpass bridge. The Santa Fe Prairie, is approximately 1/4 mile south of the train tracks.
The only train car on display here is the caboose, wich is open for interior viewing on the weekends at certain times. (I don't know the schedule at this time.)
It is a nice place to take the family to visit. A little known Chicagoland attraction.
Thank You.
Eddie.
