Northbound Grand Trunk Western Railroad freight train. Evergreen Park Illinois USA. Febuary 1986.
I took this photograph on a chilly but mild sunny day in Febuary of 1986. The day was chilly in the fact that it was still Winter and there was an occasional chill to be felt in the wind. It was also Mild because it was just warm enough for some of the remaining January snow to Melt that day. Seen here is a northbound GTW freight train with a Caboose on the rear. The train has just passed the railroad crossing at South Kedzie Avenue and West 93rd street. Cabooses were being "Phased Out" from mainline trains during the early 1980's, and this was starting to become a rare scene on everyday freight trains except for a handfull of switching locals spotting sidings.
