I took this photograph on an overcast January day in 2007. Seen here traveling eastbound on a Canadian Pacific transfer train, is an outside braced Hi Cube boxcar from the railroad formerly known as Conrail. Conrail was formed in the year of 1976, and was a goverment creation involving the mergers of the very bankrupt
Pen Central, Lehigh Valley, Reading, and a few other east coast railroads. The Norfolk Southern and the CSX Transportation Company railroads bought out Conrail through a merger in 1999.
