The former Milwaukee Road passenger train station at Deerfield Illinois. August 2009.

Who said that the glory days of railroading in Chicago are gone?
True, there are no longer as many passenger trains that was once experienced in North America as well as the many Pre Amtrak individual railroads that operated them.
However, if one looks close enough...an occasional relic or treasure from railroading's nostalgic past can show up around town.

I was recently delighted to find out for Myself, that the old wooden original steam era Milwaukee Road passenger train depot in north suburban Deerfield Illinois was alive and well today. It serves several daily Metra commuter trains on the Metra / Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road "North Line" to Fox Lake Illinois.

The wooden relief carved station name sign adds a touch of class too.
