Hamburger Heaven Drive In. Elmhurst Illinois USA. July 2008.
Hello everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.
A happy seasonal summertime memory for many local Chicagoans, as well as for people in other parts of the nation...are those refreshing visits to the local soft serve ice cream stands. Sometimes, a nice hot and made to order Hamburger, Chilli or Hot Dog special is what You may really desire on any given night.
Shown here at the southeast corner of York Street and North Avenue / Illinois U.S Route #64, is the old 1950's era Hamburger Heaven drive in restaurant in northwest suburban Elmhurst Illinois. This vintage roadside Drive In restaurant features a walk up counter, made to order Hamburgers, Soft Serve Ice Cream, Richardson's Root Beer, and they even sell Hamburger Heaven T Shirts as well. It is a fun local place.
Hamburger Heaven is a seasonal street corner drive in restaurant that closes for the wiinter every year. It is a happy and nostalgic reminder of neighborhood Mom and Pop owned fast food stands before the mega chains like Mc Donald's and Burger King took over everywhere. A real blast from Chicagoland's past.
