The original Dove's Candie's on South Pulaski Road. (Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. April 1986.
Hi everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.
I took this photo one night in April of 1986. I was experimenting with taking some 35MM night time photos with a few Family members, in Chicago's Westlawn neighorhood near Midway Airport. We are looking southwest at the intersection of West 60th Street and South Pulaski Road. Seen here on the southwest corner, is the original Dove's Candies ice cream shop. This was a neighborhood landmark establishment for many years. The business was sold approximately two years later, and is now a Remax Real Estate Agency. Dove's Ice Cream is now produced commercially and available in Grocery stores.

We used to go here, probably in the late 70's. They had a chest freezer in the front of the store, stocked with the hand-dipped Dove ice cream bars. Besides the chocolate covered vanilla and chocolate ice cream, they had strawberry ice cream and (my favorite) coconut ice cream. Of course, both of those also were covered with that wonderful Dove chocolate. They cost $1.00 each. As I recall, they were much larger than they are now that they are mass-produced by Mars. So yummy, but a dieter's nightmare! Love this picture!
Thank you for uploading this.
