Shown here on North Kilbourn Avenue, in
the city of Chicago Illinois USA, is a scene
from a very miserable morning rush hour.
The National Weather Service on Thursday
afternoon and evening, had issued a very
severe weather warning with snowfall expected
to reach anywhere from 6 to 12 inches. Luckilly,
the city of Chicago -the Illinois Department of Transportation -and several suburban municipalities had dispatched numerous snowplows and salt spreader trucks on the scene.
It was a battle, but the streets were driveable
once again by afternnon and evening. Many motorists had the unfortunate displeasure of slipping their tires on icy streets, or having to shovel out their parking places. It was nasty.
