I had taken this photo on location, at the
suburban River Grove Illinois Metra
commuter rail station. The snow had just
stopped falling around the time I had taken
this winter train scene from the greater
Chicagoland area. Friday, December ist was
a brutal day in Chicago, as we were hit by
a heavy winter snowstorm. The National
Weather Service the night before had issued
a "Severe weather warning" with heavy snow
accumulations expected to reach 6 to 12 inches.
Driving conditions were dangerous, but the
different city and suburban municipalities had
dispatched plenty of snowplowing equipment.
The ground level "Crossing Signals" shown here at the station were working, but the ice and
snow had given the normal ringing warning a very "Tinny" sound. It was a cold and snowy day.
