Chicago's winter scenery can be anything from snowy Christmas card scenes, or barren straw brown landscape. A dry but cold and windy Saturday afternoon in January of 1988, finds us looking west at Brighton Junction on Chicago's near southwest side. I took this photograph looking west on the Illinois Central Railroad tracks. A northbound Burlington Northern transfer freight train on Conrail trackage, is just clearing the Illinois Central mainline crosstracks.
