I took this photo at work one day after servicing a large grocery store not far from here. This is the large Morton salt company on Chicago's northside. Salt is delivered to the plant via covered hopper cars, and is serviced by the nearby ( across the street) Chicago Terminal Railroad. I believe this is in an industrial district of the city of Chicago known as Goose Island. If anybody has inforamation on this area, I would like to hear from You. Please drop Me a line. Ok?

Yes, Goose Island is a fascinating industrial area of Chicago. The North Branch of the Chicago River borders one side and a man-made canal borders the other, joining the Chicago River at the top and bottom of the island.
Until about 15 years ago, Goose Island still had a lot of its old flavor, with aging factories, weedy railroad spurs and pot-holed side streets. There has been lots of new development, however.
Eddie,
In response to your request for information about the Goose Island area, I believe you'll find the chicagoswitching.com website to be an excellent resource.
Thank you for posting your fine photos. I now have your site bookmarked.
