I took this photo on Chicago's northside in early September of 2007. This is a small yard located between North Elston Avenue and the I-90 Kennedy Expressway, and it is shared by the Union Pacific, and the little Chicago Terminal Railroad. The "Y" on the locomotives number boards and the reflective red and white safety stripes on the front, is how the Union Pacific desiganates locomotives for Yard and Terminal service. The UPY on the cab sides, translates to Union Pacific "Yard". The train was sitting still with the locomotive idling at the time of My "Authorized" visit to the property.
