Baca's Cook Shop and Bar on West 51st Street in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood. ( Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. December 1984.
I took this photo on a December Afternoon way back in 1984.
A local if not seedy and somewhat questionable icon on West 51st Street in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood, was Baca's Cook Shop and Bar located on the southside of west 51st Street one block east of South Lawndale Avenue. This place was a combination Tavern, Grill and Transient Hotel that served both railroaders and truck drivers.
This building was located immediately behind the 1888 built Grand Trunk Western Railroad Elsdon train station. The old station was already demolished by the time I took this photograph on Chicago's southwest side.
