Union Pacific EMD GP-15 light roadswitcher running light. Chicago Illinois USA. December 2007.
I took this photograph one overcast morning, in December of 2007. We are looking southeast from the Metra, Western Avenue commuter rail station near West Hubbard Street. An eastbound Union Pacific late 1970's era EMD model GP-15 light roadswitcher, passes by on the adjacent Union Pacific ex Chicago & Northwestern Railroad mainline. Western Avenue is actually a junction point a mile or so west of Chicago Union Station. The Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road line, and the Union Pacific Railroad's former Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad line pass through here side by side. There are also two adjacent commuter coach yard maintenance facilities once owned by the two former railroads, and now operated by todays Metra commuter rail agency.
