I took this photo on a bitterly cold morning in January of 2007. A southbound Canadian Pacific transfer train, is seen passing through Hawthorne Junction, on Chicago's near southwest side. The silver steel signal relay shed behind the chain link fence, was the site of an old wooden interlocking tower that was demolished in 1990. The train is traveling south over the Belt Railway of Chicago enroute to Clearing Yard, located in southwest suburban Bedford Park Illinois.
There was plenty of bright sunshine, but the air was cold, and the wind would sting My face.
