Southbound Indiana Harbor Belt transfer train crossing West 71st Street. Bridgeview Illinois USA. August 2007.
I took this photo one day after work, in August of 2007. A southbound transfer train from the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, is seen crossing West 71st Street in southwest suburban Bridgeview Illinois, near the New Toyota Park Stadium.
A day on the IHB Argo in 1966 could be: Go to both the IC West at Broadview and the CGW, pick up 80 plus cars, go to Blue Island hump yard, pull a train to Gibson then grab 100 plus for the CB&Q at Congress Park, and get back to Argo before the 16 hour law kicked in. It was routine to do all this with a single NW2 EMD 1000 hp locomotive.
