Dinnertime at Henry's Drive In. Cicero Illinois USA. Early November 2007.

Hi everybody!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page.
I just got out of work a little while ago, and I thought that it would be nice to get together tonight at Henry's Drive In on Ogden Avenue aka old U.S Route # 66 in Cicero Illinois. I have been going to Henry's Drive In occasionally since 1971. Henry's has been in business at this location just west of Austin Avenue since 1950, and the meals are tasty and relatively inexpensive. The silver bridge in the background, is the Canadian National ex Illinois Central Iowa Division Mainline. Except for new brick siding and a roof during a 1980 remodeling, the building is relatively unchanged. During the 1960's and 70's, Henry's Drive In had green and white tile siding with a flat roof, wich was typical roadside restaurant architecture from the baby boomer era. Ogden Avenue U.S Route # 34 and formerly # 66 in some sections, at one time had many roadside Drive In restaurants like Henry's. Some actually had Car Hop service as well. I had witnessed most of them disappear by 1975. Henry's is a survivor from that era, and is still serving Hot Dogs, Barbecue Beef Sandwiches, Chilli and Hamburgers today. This is a pleasant old drive in just east of Berwyn Illinois.
