One of My all time favorite Chicagoland railroad landmarks, was the old interlockinmg tower that guarded and controlled the railroad traffic on the Norfolk Southern ( ex Wabash.) and the Indiana Harbor Belt railroad lines, in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge Illinois. The tower was closed in 1993, and sat abandoned untill it was demolished in 1995. A northbound Conrail Auto Rack train is seen speeding past the crosstracks and tower just east of Ridgeland Avenue in October of 1989.
