I took this photo from the southeast corner of West 47th Street and South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood, in March of 1983. The Jakter Hotel behind Me on the corner, was slowly being demolished at the time of this photograph. In the background, a Chicago Transit Authority 1970's era GMC TDH Series Fishbowl Windshield bus is approaching the stop at South Kedzie Avenue on a sunny Chicago late winter afternoon.

I couldn't find your email, so I am contacting you here.
I was referred to your blog via Second City Cop. In the comments section for a SCC post about my new site, Forgotten Chicago, a number of people noted the Jakter hotel, linking to your page. The user was anonymous - perhaps it was you? Either way, I really like your feature on this hotel, for if it weren't for you, it would probably have truly been lost to obscurity. If you'd be interested, I'd like you to do a page about this hotel for Forgotten Chicago. You would obviously get credit for the page, and it would offer more exposure to this interesting facet of the city's history. Let me know if you're interested, and we can talk more about this.
I also wanted to ask - do you have any pictures of the old Polk and Taylor viaduct/bridges over the river? They traversed lead up tracks to Union and Grand Central Stations, in addition to a number of warehouses. I am in the process of compiling a page about bridge remnants (which exist for both), and I could use some good pics of these.

A few passers by that saw Me on the sidewalk taking those photos thought I was either STUPID, or CRAZY and laughed at Me. Who cares! they were drunk anyway.
I will be staying in touch. I too have some lost Chicago material such as The GTW Elsdon Roundhouse at 49th and Kedzie, The Marquette Movie Theatre on West 63rd Street,Irv's Golf Range at 70th and Cicero Avenue, as well as Dove's Candie's at West 60th Street and South Pulaski Road, and the original Ford City sign at night.
