I took this photo one morning in late December of 2006. Except for a heavy snowstorm that fell on the greater Chicagoland area on December 1st 2006, the weather turned unseasonably mild approximately 2 weeks later, and the snow had melted and turned the landscape into mud.
Seen here looking east from the north platform of the Metra Mont Clare commuter flagstop depot near the Chicago city limits, is an approaching Norfolk Southern transfer train with a former Conrail General Electric diesel in the lead, and a former Union Pacific unit on the rear of the locomotive consist. This rail line. is the Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road mainline. This line is a very busy Chicagoland railroad mainline.
