A scene from Chicago's severe thunderstorm on Friday, June 19th 2009.
Hi everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.
Weather has always been a popular topic here in the Windy City, and most anywhere.
One of the harsh weather events to hit the Greater Chicagoland Area during the summer of 2009, was a severe thunderstorm that pelted the Chicago area on Friday, June 19th 2009 with torrential rains, hail, high winds and flooding due to several inches of pouring rain. The National weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm watch bulletin for the entire Chicago area until 3 pm that day. It was indeed a freak storm system that caused great damage in it's wake.
I took this photo during the height of the downpour, in near northwest suburban Elmwood Park Illinois. Water can be seen here gushing out of a standard household rain downspout pipe. I got soaked to the bone photographing this dramatic weather photo, but it was worth it.
