Northbound Burlington Northern transfer train passing through Brighton Junction. Chicago Illinois USA. January 1988.
I took this photo on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, in January of 1988.
A northbound Burlington Northern Railroad transfer freight train, is viewed passing through the crosstracks at Chicago's historic Brighton Junction near South Archer and Western Avenues. The junction was closed in early July of 2007, as the old manual steam era semaphore signals were removed. The old crosstracks were replaced with new ones thus modernizing this junction. It is a very busy Chicago railroad location today.
