The old historic neon Melody Mill Ballroom sign. North Riverside Illinois USA. September 2006.

I took this photo back in September of 2006.

Although the Melody Mill Ballroom in west suburban North Riverside Illinois was demolished around 1977 and replaced by a large modern police and fire station, the old neon Melody Mill Ballroom sign is tucked away in the back of a public works storage yard awaiting possible restoration.

Oh, I have such fond memories of Melody Mill.....as a child I could feel the excitement in the house when my parents were getting ready to go there and could hardly wait to hear of their dancing adventures the next day. As an adult, it was my turn and I spent many a wonderful evening dancing to the bands. It broke my heart when they tore it down!!!
