Chicago's NorthWestern station. ( Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. January 1984.
I took this photo during a wintertime railfan photo visit to Chicago's 1911 built Northwestern Station on West Madison Street in downtown Chicago Illinois. This classic steam era downtown railroad passenger terminal, was in it's final months in service as Northwestern Station, and the old main concourse and waiting room building would be demolished during the upcoming summer months in 1984.
Seen here just northeast of the boarding platforms at the old passenger train shed, is a 1970's era EMD model F-40PH passenger locomotive wearing the pre Metra RTA light blue color scheme. Todays Metra began operations in 1984.
