Preserved West Towns Bus Company # 776. The Midwest Transit Bus Museum. Cresthill Illinois USA. September 2000.
Hi friends!
Welcome aboard the "Bus Day" edition of Eddie's Railfan Page.
I took this photo in September of 2000, at The Midwest Transit Bus Museum, located in far southwest suburban Cresthill Illinois near the city of Joliet. From 2000 to 2002, I was a member of this unoficial museum group of bus enthusiasts. This group, was much like an antique car club for buses.
West Towns Bus Company # 776, is a 1950 vintage General Motors old look TDH series 40foot transit bus. It was used primarilly in the western suburban towns of La Grange, Oak Park, Berwyn, Brookfield, Melrose Park, Cicero, Maywood and North Riverside Illinois. Today it is privately owned, and was occasionally used in local Chicago area parades in recent years. It was in service until approximately 1979.
