I took this photo on the afternoon of Friday, December 1st 2006, at the River Grove Metra commuter rail station on Thatcher Avenue.
Friday, December 1st 2006 was a day when Chicago was being pelted by heavy lake effect snowstorms all morning and part of the early afternoon. I took this photo at the Metra commuter rail station in near northwest suburban River Grove Illinois.
It is approximately 3:00 PM, and the heavy snow storm activity ended about 30 minutes ago.
Seen here is an eastbound Canadian Pacific freight train passing through a snowy Christmas card setting through freshly fallen snow. Notice the snow on the nose of the lead locomotive near the windshield.
