I took this photo on a rainy afternoon in October of 2006. Seen here is one of the most elusive trains I have ever photographed. This is a single track branchline that passes the nearby Maywood Park horse racing track on 1st Avenue / U.S Route # 171 in the Melrose Park , Maywood, and River Forest area of Chicagoland.This view was photographed through My cars windshield on 1st Avenue just a little bit south of West North Avenue / U.S Route # 64.

Interesting to reflect that Soo Line passenger trains to Duluth and other points north would traverse these same rails back in the day.
