I took this photo one day after work around sunset, in July of 2007. Behind the small chain link fence, is where a Chicagoland railfan landmark used to stand known as Argo Tower.
This view is looking northwest, just north of the Indiana Harbor Belt, and Canadian National ex Illinois Central crosstracks. Prior to 1972, the former Illinois Central mainline, was originally the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio railroad line to St. Louis Missouri.
The old brick interlocking tower stood here untill it was closed in 1993. The building was demolished in stages over a two year period from 1993 to 1995. This was actually My first visit back here since at least the mid 1990's. Luckilly I took a few photos of the old Argo Tower.
