I took this mid day photo looking west, from the Manheim Road -U.S Route 12 / 45 overpass bridge. Look closely toward the right of the photo, and You can see a small cut of retired former Illinois Central / Metra 1969 built Hi Liner double deck electric commuter cars. These cars were used on the Metra Electric / former Illinois Central commuter lines, and are in the process of being replaced with new M.U cars.These cars may be going to either a scrap yard online, or perhaps the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. Either way, another era in Chicagoland railroading is coming to an end, and is leaving town via Proviso Yard.
