I took this photo after work one day, in October of 2007. A Canadian National transfer train is seen heading northbound over the Belt Railway of Chicago trackage at Hawthorne Junction. The train is crossing the former Illinois Central Iowa Division Mainline crosstracks, now owned by Canadian National since 1999. Notice the Belt Railway of Chicago logo on the reflective gold Hawthorne Junction sign. Prior to 1990, a large victorian looking brick interlocking tower stood at this location.Monday, January 14, 2008
