I took this photo on a bright and sunny but bitterly cold January morning in early 2008. This is the busy Hawthorne Junction located near Cicero Illinois at the Chicago City Limits. The tracks in the foreground are the Canadian National ex Illinois Central -Iowa Division Mainline. The tracks behind the steel shed belong to the Belt Railway of Chicago. A large brick victorian era interlocking tower stood where the steel shed was untill the year of 1990. Most of the traffic through here are north and southbound transfer trains on the Belt Railway of Chicago.Monday, January 28, 2008
