A former Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, ex Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe caboose on display. Bridgeview Illinois. May 2015.
No longer riding aboard freight trains, this now retired caboose
is part of a local "Kid Safe City" municipal display at
Commisioner's Park.

An Alco RS 27 Demonstrator diesel electric locomotive, pulls a 1960's era freight train.

The abandoned Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad's former Illinois Northern Railroad industrial branchline. Chicago Illinois. January 2015.
Operated Monday thru Friday, with a switching local
originating from the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Railroad's Corwith Yard. This line departed from the
north end of Corwith Yard, crossed the Illinois Central
Gulf Railroad ex Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad crosstracks.
The line then crossed the Chicago, Sanitary and Ship Canal,
crossed the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad's Iowa Division
Mainline crosstracks, curved northeast, and served the once
numerous industries, in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood.
The line terminated and interchanged with the former
Burlington Northern Railroad, at South Western and Blue
Island Avenues.
The BNSF Railway leased the line in 2001, to the short
line operator Central Illinois Railroad, who switched
the remaining and greatly diminished on line industries
as needed, until going defunct in 2010.
The tracks and crossing signals, have since been removed
on the former Illinois Northern branchline.
An old photograph from the former Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee electric interurban railroad?
No. Just a fun outing to the Illinois Railway Museum in
Union Illinois way back in July of 1996.

Riding the former Chicago Brookfield Zoo train at the Hesston Steam Museum. Hesston Indiana. September 2014.
The narrow gauge Brookfield, Salt Creek & Western Railroad
circled the outer perimeter of Chicago's Brookfield Zoo in
a counter clockwise direction from 1967 until 1985.
After many years in storage, this train can be ridden once
again, at The Hesston Steam Museum in La Porte County

Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee Railroad, approach
preserved Spaulding tower, enroute to the museum's
East Union Depot on a hot summer day.

Existed from 1911 to 1984. Today, this is the site of
the Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center on
West Madison Street in downtown Chicago Illinois.
