I took this photo one night in April of 1986. I was experimenting with taking some 35MM night time photos with a few Family members, in Chicago's Westlawn neighorhood near Midway Airport. We are looking southwest at the intersection of West 60th Street and South Pulaski Road. Seen here on the southwest corner, is the original Dove's Candies ice cream shop. This was a neighborhood landmark establishment for many years. The business was sold approximately two years later, and is now a Remax Real Estate Agency. Dove's Ice Cream is now produced commercially and available in Grocery stores.

I took this photo one hot summer afternoon, in June of 2008. Seen here looking east from the Canfield Road overpass bridge near Park Ridge Illinois, is a speeding westbound Chicago Transit Authority blue line rapid transit train enroute to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport terminal in nearby Rosemont Illinois. The eastbound rush hour traffic is backinbg up on the Illinois U.S Route # I-90 Kennedy Expressway, while the westbound traffic is still moving for now at a decent pace.

I took this photo during a September 2006 visit to the East Troy Electric Railroad and Museum near Lake Geneva Wisconsin. The museum's own little scratchbuilt 4 wheel replica of an early 1900's era open trolley car, is seen heading eastbound along the museum's mainline.

I took this photo after work one afternoon, in early September of 2007.

We are on location looking east, at the Metra, Hanson Park commuter flagstop depot immediately adjacent to the North Central Avenue overpass bridge. A trio of slow moving westbound Canadian Pacific EMD roadswitchers on the bypass freight line to the right, are being overtaken by a fast moving westtbound Metra express commuter train. It is the begining of the afternoon and evening rush hour period on the former Milwaukee Road west line to Elgin Illinois.

A popular attraction in the resort town of Lake Geneva Wisconsin, are the many different sightseeing boat tours. The Dutchess, is a small modern diesel powered semi replica of an old sternwheel river boat from decades past. Although the wheel is free rotating (Not Powered.) and just for show cosmeticaly...this is still a pleasant way to cruise Lake Geneva in style.

I photographed this digital live sound video during My lunchbreak one morning, in early September of 2009. A speeding southbound Metra commuter train, is seen riding alongside Illinois U.S Route # 43 Waukeegan Road in far north suburban Baneckburn Illinois. This video location is on the east side of Waukeegan Road, just south of the intersection of Illinois U.S Route # 22 Half Day Road in far north suburban Baneckburn Illinois. This mainline, is the Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road northline.

We are looking west on Main Street in north suburban Skokie Illinois. A speeding Chicago Transit Authority yellow line train crosses Main Street as it heads for the eastern terminal at Howard Street in Evanston Illinois.

I took this photo one sunny day, way back in March of 1985.

Seen here at West 41st Street approximately 4 to 5 city blocks east of South Pulaski Road, is the old A,T & S,F Corwith Yard locomotive terminal along the west side of Corwith Yard. This view is looking north.

Today this facility is owned and operated by the 1995 succesor company BNSF Railway.

I photographed this silent digital video with My old digital camera after work one evening, back in June of 2007. Seen here from the east parking lot, is the Scrambler ride on the midway at Chicago's Kiddieland Amusement Park.

After 81 years in operation , Kiddieland is officially closing for good at this location on Sunday, September 27th 2009. It will be greatly missed.

I took this unique vintage looking 35MM black and white photo in August of 1990.
I was enjoying a much deserved vacation in Strasburg Pennsylvania. I took this photo on a hazy and humid summer morning at the Groff's Grove shelter depot near Cherry Hill Road. The northbound train wich was a shakedown test run of 0-6-0 steam locomotive # 31, has just passed this train on the passing siding. With an all clear from the dispatcher at the nearby East Strasburg station, this train is now resuming it's return journey.

I took this photo one hot summer morning, in late July of 2009.

We are on location at the Techny Road railroad crossing in far north suburban Northbrook Illinois. A southbound Canadian Pacific Railroad heavy freight train, has just turned off of the former Milwaukee Road northline, and is now entering the interchange to the Union Pacific freight only cut off line. This freight only cut off line, was originally owned and operated by the Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad.

Freight train traffic on the former Milwaukee Road northline, operates from this junction point at Techny Road and points north of here. It is a busy location.

I took this photo during My Honeymoon vacation to Lake Geneva Wisconsin back in September of 2006. On this tragic 8th anniversary of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attack on America, I felt that this image of American flags on the city lamp posts in downtown Lake Geneva Wisconsin, is a fitting way of saying.....
"GOD BLESS AMERICA"!

Digital Live Sound Video: A former E,J & E locomotive pushing a short cut of hopper cars eastbound. Rondout Illinois USA. Early September 2009.

I photographed this digital live sound video just east of Rondout Tower and Junction. The old Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railroad was recently absorbed through merger in to the Canadian National Railroad, but this orange former E,J & E EMD diesel electric locomotive is working the former E,J & E line to nearby Waukeegan Illinois just like old times.

I took this photo near the Elmwood Park Illinois, Metra commuter rail station. The date is Sunday, August 16th 2009. Today is the annual Chicago Air and Water Show at Chicago's lakefront. Due to the huge crowds attending the event, Metra has dispatched extra trains on the former Milwaukee Road west line from Elgin Illinois.

Notice this train has been dispatched on to the "Wrong" or normally westbound mainline due to heavy rail traffic. This train is enroute to Chicago Union Station downtown. The eastbound train ahead of this one, ran as an "Express" from Roselle to Chicago.

The spirit of electric interurban style railroading of decades past, is alive and well today at Wisconsin's East Troy Electric Railroad and Museum. A modified former rapid transit car from the Philadelphia Suburban Transit Company of Philadelphia Pennsylvania, is viewed arriving from the west in to the East Troy station.

I took this photo approximately a week after the Labor Day holiday. A pleasant and very parklike place I enjoy visiting in Chicago, is Belmont Harbor near Lincoln Park.
Summer may have just ended for the most part, but You wouldn,t know it seeing these privately owned boats moored here and waiting for their next pleasure voyage on nearby Lake Michigan.

I took this photo one summer evening in July of 2008, at the Prairie Avenue BNSF Railway railroad crossing in west suburban Brookfield Illinois. The sun has already sank below the horizon, but the beautiful multi colored twilight sky adds a nice mood to this temporarily serene moment between train times on the busy BNSF Railway mainline. After the sky begins to grow darker upon nightfall, the line will soon be active again with numerous east and westbound freight trains.

Soon to be retired CTA 6000 series rapid transit cars on a fantrip charter. Chicago Illinois USA. March 1985.

One of My favorite memorys growing up in Chicago during the 1960's and 70's, was the once everyday sight of the Chicago Transit Authority's lightweight 6000 series rapid transit cars. These cars were built during the 1950's, utilizing electrical parts and components from scrapped PCC electric streetcars. Although many Chicagoans before Me hated to see electric streetcar service end by 1958, this turned out to be a very "Cost Effective" way for the CTA to modernize their heavily trafficked subway and elevated rapid transit lines.

I took this photo during a March 1985 fantrip that was sponsored by the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. The old 6000 series cars were nearing the end of their service lives during the mid 1980's, and would be retired by the early to mid 1990's. Several retired CTA 6000 series cars began arriving at the Illinois Railway Museum in 1996. Others eventually found homes at various railroad museums as well.

I took this photo one lovely Springtime morning in May of 2007.

Although the Illinois Central was absorbed through merger with the Canadian National back in 1999, You can still find an occasional remnant or two from this now fallen flag railroad still rolling around. I spotted this simple gray 1990's era Illinois Central boxcar, traveling northbound on a Canadian National transfer train. The train is viewed crossing west 31st Street in west suburban La Grange Park Illinois, over the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad line.

I took this photo after work one overcast summer evening, in July of 2009. We are on the Chicago side of the city limits border, just a few blocks east of near northwest suburban Elmwood Park Illinois. A westbound Metra rush hour local commuter train has just began to ring it's bell and rev up the engine, as it begins to depart from the Mont Clare commuter rail station east of North Harlem Avenue.
